Celebrating 10 Years of Leadership and Compassion
Today, Aug. 13, 2025, we honor Phyllis McClendon for a decade of extraordinary leadership as the Executive Director of The Haven of NEA, Inc. For ten years, she has been the steady hand and the passionate heart guiding our mission to provide safety, hope, and healing for survivors of domestic violence.
Her dedication goes far beyond the walls of our shelter. She has worked tirelessly to ensure that every person who comes through our doors feels seen, heard, and valued. She has been a voice for the voiceless, an advocate in the community, and a champion for change. Under her guidance, we have expanded services, strengthened outreach, and built programs that not only protect survivors but also empower them to rebuild their lives.
For a decade, Ms. Phyllis has poured her heart into this shelter, walking alongside survivors in their darkest moments and reminding them that safety, dignity, and a fresh start are possible. She has fought for those without a voice, built bridges in our community, and created a place where healing truly begins.
What truly sets Ms. Phyllis apart is her selflessness. She leads with humility, always putting the needs of others first. She has given her time, her energy, and her heart to this work, never losing sight of why we are here—because every person deserves to live free from fear.
As we celebrate this milestone, we are deeply grateful for her unwavering commitment. Ten years of service is more than a career—it’s a legacy. And because of her, countless lives have been touched, transformed, and given the chance to begin again.
Thank you, Ms. Phyllis, for your compassion, your strength, and your vision. You are not only a leader but an inspiration to us all. Because of you, The Haven is not just a shelter—it’s a lifeline, a family, and a beacon of hope. We are so grateful for you, and we can’t wait to see the difference you’ll continue to make in the years ahead.
Congratulations from The Haven Board and Staff
